The Namiki Yukari Royale Parrot with Peach uses detailed Maki-e to depict the parrot and the peach, two important cultural symbols in China. The larger size of the Yukari Royale lends an ample palette for the beautiful Maki-e on this pen.

The parrot is found in southern China, and symbolizes marriage, fidelty, and loyalty. Similarly, the peach is also a representation of marriage, as well as life and immortality. The peach-tree of the gods was said to bear the fruit of eternal life.

Gold dust sprinkled throughout the design creates a rich frame for the revered parrot as it perches on the peachtree branch. Pearlescent blues, greens, and corals round out the color palette and help the design stand out against the black background.

The 18k nib is imprinted with Mt. Fuji in a white platinum wash as well as with the Namiki pentagon. This pentagon can also be seen on the top of the clip. Notice that lacquer with gold dust is also applied to the clip, unifying the dark color with the rest of the pen.

As always with the Namiki Yukari Royale series, this pen is both a superb everyday writer as well as a work of art in its own right.
